[Description]

Paclitaxe is a kind of complex secondary metabolites in Taxus species. At present, it is unique drug with the promotion and stabilization for microtubule polymerization. Tracing studies with isotope showed that paclitaxe only combined with the microtubule polymerization, but did not react with unpolymerized tubulin dimer. Treated with paclitaxe, a large number of microtubule in cells accumulates, and interferes with many cell funtions, especially stopping cell division in mitosis and blocking normal cell division. In clinical phase II-III trials, paclitaxel was mainly used to treat ovarian, and breast cancer. In addition, it also exerted some curative effects on lung cancer, colorectal cancer, melanoma, head and neck cancer, lymphoma, and brain tumors.
